The past week has taught me an important lesson about entrepreneurship and co-founders/partners. It has opened up my eyes to the fact that two people can see and interpret situations incredibly differently and how that can lead to nasty disagreements.
The takeaway?
Once it's over, it is paramount that both take time to self-reflect on what transpired, sit down and discuss it, effectively communicate, and move forward together as a stronger and better team.
It is no secret that individuals take pride in having an opinion, in having a stance; however, what's more important is ensuring that stance is qualified and defensible; otherwise, one ought not to be afraid to admit that they've been mistaken and to reassess their beliefs and/or arguments.
To keep an open mind and be willing to let your (core) beliefs or worldview be challenge is not easy but it is absolutely necessary. I am grateful to have found a co-founder who believes in this mantra too.
